  • Overall silhouette remains similar to the Russia-spec Solaris aside from new dual-tone wheels.
  • Other exterior changes include a revised front end and new LED tail lamps.
  • Interiors are likely to feature a larger touchscreen, an electric sunroof and Blue Link connected car tech.
  • Will be powered by the Venue’s 1.0-litre T-GDI petrol engine, delivering 120PS/172Nm.
  • Could launch in India by mid-2020.

Hyundai has revealed the facelifted Verna's side profile days after the Korean manufacturer dropped teaser images of the sedan. Aside from this Hyundai has also revealed that the updated Verna will feature Blue Link connected car tech. The sedan has been spotted testing multiple times on Indian roads.

A closer look at the teaser image will reveal a design that is fairly similar to the Russia-spec Solaris. It does however retain its predecessor’s silhouette with the main change being a new set of dual-tone wheels. Changes at the front include redesigned headlamps, a revised grille and foglamps placed within triangular faux airdams. The rear is relatively similar to the current model aside from a new set of LED tail lamps.

Spy shots inside reveal that Hyundai could equip the facelifted Verna with a larger touchscreen infotainment system. And now, the carmaker has confirmed that the 2020 Verna will come with a variety of Blue Link connected features such as the capacity to remotely monitor and operate some functions like air conditioning, air purifier, engine start and stop, head and taillamps. It also enables voice commands to make a phone call, get a list of India’s public holidays, and even live cricket scores. It could also retain features from the current car like an electric sunroof, wireless phone charging, cruise control, and ventilated seats.

The carmaker has revealed that the Verna facelift will be powered by a BS6-compliant 1.0-litre T-GDI turbo-petrol engine. It is likely to deliver 120PS/172Nm just like the Venue. Other engine variants could include the BS6 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines from the upcoming next-gen Creta. Transmission options could consist of a 6-speed manual, an intelligent variable CVT, a 7-speed DCT, and a 6-speed conventional automatic.

Expect Hyundai to bring the 2020 Verna facelift to Indian shores by mid-2020 at a premium over its current model that currently sells from Rs 8.18 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Toyota Yaris, Volkswagen Vento, Skoda Rapid and the upcoming 2020 Honda City
