Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. has launched its VFR1200F motorcycle in India. The sports tourer has been launched at an ex-showroom Delhi price of Rs 17.5 lakh. After introducing its flagship model, the CBR1000RR Fireblade and the CB1000R street-fighter in India, the company hass now brought in its latest offering to the Indian shores. Demand for big-bikes in India is slowly but steadily gathering pace and Honda's big-bikes have garnered respectable sales figures. Let's take a quick look on what the VFR1200F is all about.
The most significant addition to Honda's 2010 line-up, the new Honda VFR1200F is the successor to the legendary VFR800 sports-tourer albeit with more fun thrown into it with a mix of superbike-challenging performance as well as touring ease and comfort. Honda claims this is one of the most versatile motorcycles from the Japanese brand, which will be able to cater to the requirements of a much larger audience. With the new VFR1200F, Honda has adopted racing technologies and fine-tuned them for road-use.

Powered by an all-new radically-designed compact V4 engine, marking Honda's 30 years of V4 engine development, the new VFR1200F will be a successor to the legendary VFR800 and Honda's CBR1100XX Super Blackbird hyper-tourer. The VFR1200F boasts of race-track like performance but with more rider-friendly attitude and approachable power. The 170PS of power let loose at 10,000rpm feels thrilling just like an inline-4 motor but it is unleashed in a more tractable and in a well-disposed manner, making the bike more forgiving and fun to ride. In order to reduce the power losses, Honda has incorporated a shaft drive on the VFR1200F which also does the job of transferring the 129Nm of torque (peaking at 8,750rpm) to the rear wheel.
Most of the motorcycle riders these days look for motorcycles with usable power that are not completely track-focused like most of the litre-class machinery on offer today. Honda has sure got the formula right with the new VFR1200F as a product, which offers performance riding, long distance touring as well as every day commuting in a single package without compromising on practicality and functionality. Add to that Honda's latest technological innovation, the Dual Clutch Transmission, available as an option on the VFR1200F and what you get is a well-engineered motorcycle which is competent for any sort of road use. The blistering first ride of the bike from the Chennai race track is up next, so stay logged in!
