Honda has established a new heritage centre in Marysville, Ohio which pays tribute to the Japanese carmaker’s 55-year-old history in North America. Sprawling over a good 1,60,000 sq ft, this new facility costs a whopping Rs 222.4 crore and includes a museum and a technical development centre for Honda North America.
The new museum in the heritage centre will exhibit a variety of the brand’s products including production cars and motorcycles, Honda's humanoid robot, Hondajet - the company’s entry into the jet market space; and motorsports – celebrating the company’s long-term involvement in racing in North America.
The heritage complex also houses a new technical development centre which will focus on improving the skills of the company's engineers, equipment service technicians, and production associates involved in auto production at Honda plants not only in Ohio, but throughout North America.
Tom Shoupe, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice-President, Honda America, said, "Honda is committed to investing in its team of associates and this new training centre will allow our associates to continually develop their manufacturing skills so that they can lead the production of critical global models."
The company has been making vehicles in the United States since 1979 and has about 14,000 employees here. The heritage centre will open to the public next month while giving a glimpse on some of Honda’s products over several decades.
