Ahead of its launch later this month, the first units of the Honda City have already begun arriving at dealerships across India. One such unit has now been spied, revealing the comprehensive design upgrades. Besides this, the City also gets revised interiors, including a much-needed new infotainment setup, but the powertrains will likely remain unchanged. Let’s take a look at what the images show:
In terms of the exterior design, the biggest change upfront is the new LED headlamps and DRLs with a connected light bar across the nose. The front bumper is redesigned with a sportier profile, vertical cutout and the sedan gets a brand-new grille with ‘honeycomb’-detailing as well. These images also showcase a front camera, which could mean the addition of a 360-degree setup.
In profile, it retains the current car’s silhouette, but gets new 16-inch black alloy wheels to give a sportier feel.
At the rear, the taillights appear largely carried over from the current model, though we can see that they now get a ‘smoked’-effect. Other changes include a new rear spoiler that is more pronounced, reworked bumpers with a black applique and a more aggressive looking faux diffuser.
Besides these changes, you can also expect Honda to revise the colour palette with some new shades to give a fresh feel to the sedan.
The most practical upgrade in this facelift is expected to be in the form of a new dashboard layout. The current City's 8-inch infotainment unit is likely to be replaced by a larger free-standing screen, like we have seen in the Amaze and Elevate. It is also likely to feature new upholstery and interior trims, while Honda could retain the familiar three-spoke steering wheel and the semi-digital instrument cluster for familiarity.
The City facelift is expected to get some new features as well, which could include a larger infotainment touchscreen, a 360-degree camera and ventilated front seats.
Under the hood, the City facelift is likely to remain unchanged and is expected to be powered by the same 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with manual and CVT gearbox options. Here are the detailed specifications of these powertrains:

1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol |

6-speed manual/CVT |

Notably, the City Hybrid is also expected to undergo a similar facelift, and is also likely to continue being mechanically unchanged.
Honda has confirmed that it will launch the new City on May 22. It is expected to be priced from Rs 12.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The sedan primarily rivals the Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia and the Hyundai Verna. The Virtus and Slavia are due for a facelift in the next few months as well, while the Verna received an update recently tool.
Honda India has been facing slowing sales in India for quite some time, and the facelifted City twins along with the ZR-V are the first steps in the brand’s plans to revive its lost glory. It will be interesting to watch out for more details when the updated sedan launches later this month, with these key changes to infuse some freshness into it. This update could help it carry on until the next generation is unveiled sometime in 2028.
