It’s been a rough ride for Honda Cars India Ltd last month as domestic sales have dropped as opposed to the corresponding month last year. Honda sold 15,655 units in August 2015 while in the same month last year they had sold 16,758 units. Leading the sales charts from Honda’s product portfolio is the City with 5,405 units and following closely in second is their recently launched hatchback Jazz with 5,404 units. With 585 units exporter the overall Honda recorded overall sales of 16,240 units in August 2015.
The launch of the Mobilio towards the end of July last year brought the initial rush from MPV buyers resulting in hefty sales figures. The Mobilio had recorded over 14,000 bookings within a month of its launch. The MPV offering’s demand has now dropped with just 899 units sold in August. However, just like the Mobilio, Honda enjoyed a similar rush with the Jazz in July.
Overall though, it has been quite a fruitful year for Honda so far as it reflects an overall growth of 7.5 per cent since April 2015. The Japanese car maker has sold 78,708 units in the period April-August 2015 as opposed to 73,185 units for the corresponding period last year.
