Facelifted Skoda Kodiaq To Begin Rolling Out In December 2021

• Skoda to launch facelifted Kodiaq TSI by the end of this year.
• Gets a revised front fascia, new wheels and tail lamps.
• Cabin design remains similar, but with new upholstery colours.
• Could get a 12-speaker Canton sound system, and ventilated front seats with massage function.
• Will be powered by a 190PS 2-litre turbo-petrol engine.

Skoda India’s boss, Zac Hollis, has confirmed the facelifted Kodiaq TSI will enter production in December 2021. The premium facelifted SUV, unveiled in April 2021, is expected to be launched soon after production commences, as deliveries are slated to begin from January 2022. 

This is the first major update for the Skoda Kodiaq. As part of a midlife update, the Kodiaq will come with a reworked front fascia comprising a wider grille, new bonnet, a redesigned bumper, and sleeker LED headlamps. It will also get new alloy wheels (probably 18-inches) and redesigned LED tail lamps. 

In contrast, the only design change on the inside is Skoda’s new two-spoke steering wheel. The rest of the cabin design remains the same, but Skoda has updated it with new upholstery and trim options, giving it a breath of fresh air.

In terms of features, the SUV could get some new additions like an updated 12-speaker Canton sound system, 10-colour footwell LED ambient lighting, and probably front seats with ventilated, heating and massage functions. Other features like the 8-inch infotainment system, panoramic sunroof, cruise control, and digital driver’s display should be retained. 

Passenger safety should be taken care of by multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors with camera, and electronic stability control.

Under the hood, the facelifted Skoda Kodiaq will be provided with a 190PS 2-litre turbo-petrol engine driving all four wheels via 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Overseas, the SUV can be availed with diesel and smaller petrol engines as well. 

The facelifted Skoda Kodiaq is likely to be priced from Rs 33 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards, putting it in the same league as the VW Tiguan Allspace and the Toyota Fortuner Petrol.
