With the launch of the Figo Aspire, the Figo hatchback, and the Endeavour out of the way Ford has now turned its attention to its popular Mustang. The American car maker will announce the prices and the variants of the Mustang at a launch event in Delhi tomorrow.
Following its debut in 2014 on the occasion of its 50th anniversary, this sixth generation Mustang is the first to be developed as a right hand drive model. In the international market, Ford sells the Mustang with three engine options. The 2.3-litre 4-cylinder EcoBoost engine that it comes with pumps power of 306 ponies and boasts of a torque rating of 434Nm. The 3.7-litre V6 and the 5.0-litre V8 on the other hand churn out 300PS and 443PS respectively. In the Indian market though, Ford is expected to launch the Mustang with just the 2.3-litre and the fully specced 5.0-litre engine option. The Ford Mustang is expected to be mated with six speed manual transmission gearbox as standard and a six speed automatic gearbox after its launch. Overseas the Blue Oval sells the Mustang in a drop top as well as a coupe version but in India it will only bring in the coupe trim.
Considering the fact that it will be brought to Indian shores as a CBU, the Mustang is expected to be priced around Rs 45 lakh for the base 2.3-litre variant and around Rs 55 lakh for the top-of-the-line 5.0-litre variant. The Ford Mustang will be launched in the coupe segment and will go against the likes of the Audi TT and the BMW Z4.
