After much anticipation and hype, Hyundai will be finally launching the 2020 Creta tomorrow. The SUV was supposed to be launched on March 17, but Hyundai preponed the launch date to March 16 last week. What you’re looking at is a worthy rival to the Kia Seltos with novel design, attractive features and potent powertrain options. Here’s everything you need to know about the 2020 Creta that is launching tomorrow.
Design
The 2020 Creta looks nothing like the verison it replaces. The design, especially at the rear, might not be to everyone’s taste and is definitely bound to split opinion. The main highlight at the front is obviously the huge grille and the split headlamps, making it look like a smaller version of the Palisade.
Cabin
The same story repeats her as nothing is carried forward from the current-gen Creta. The 2020 Creta features a simple design and layout for the dashboard which just works. Hyundai is offering two colour options for the cabin. The turbo-petrol engine powered variants get an all-black theme with red highlights while the variants equipped with the 1.5-litre engines will get a black-beige theme. Other highlights include a premium 4-spoke steering wheel and an all-digital instrument cluster.
Powertrain
1.5-litre CRDi diesel | 1.5-litre VTVT petrol | 1.4-litre T-GDI turbo petrol |
|
Power | 115PS | 115PS | 140PS |
Torque | 250Nm | 144Nm | 242Nm |
Gearbox | 6-speed MT/6-speed AT | 6-speed MT/CVT | 7-speed DCT |
As you can see, all the three powertrain options are shared with the Kia Seltos. The 1.4-litre turbo petrol develops a solid 140PS of power and 242Nm of torque and comes mated to a 7-speed DCT. The 1.5-litre petrol engine produces 115PS/144Nm while the oil burner develops 115PS and 250Nm.
Features
Hyundai has done its homework and is coming well prepared for the fight. For instance, the Creta gets a panoramic sunroof, digital instrument cluster, and paddle shifters (automatic) over the Seltos. Meanwhile Hyundai is also offering all the highlights from the Seltos such as the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Bluelink connected features, Bose sound system, 6 airbags, air purifier and a whole lot more.
Variants and Price
All questions regarding the 2020 Creta will be answered when Hyundai announces the prices tomorrow. We expect it to start from Rs 10 lakh mark. It will be offered with 5 main variants E, EX, S, SX, and SX(O), which are split into 14 variants depending on the engine and gearbox option. There will be 10 colours on offer: white, silver, black, orange, grey, blue, red dark green (turbo variant only), white/black (turbo variant only), orange/black (turbo variant only). Furthermore, Hyundai is offering four wheel options with the new Creta including two alloy wheel options.
