PT Astra Honda Motor, Honda’s Indonesian subsidiary, has launched the CBR150R fully-faired small capacity supersports motorcycle in the country in the presence of MotoGP factory team racers Dani Pedrosa and Marc Marquez at the Sentul International Circuit. The 2016 Honda CBR150R will be available in three colours viz. Racing Red, Revolution White, Nitro Black colours, in addition to the MotoGP edition that features Repsol Honda race bike livery. The standard model has been priced at IDR 32.5 million (equivalent to Rs. 1.60 lakh) while the Repsol livery will cost a bit more at IDR 33.3 million (Rs. 1.70 lakh).

Featuring a much-need all-new styling that brings it in line with its competitors, the 2016 Honda CBR150R now comes with full LED twin headlamps, LED turn indicators, and LED tail lamps. The overall styling of the body panels, while still echoing classic Honda lines, is also reminiscent of the Yamaha YZF-R125 and R15. The riding position is sportier now thanks to repositioned footpegs; the swingarm is longer by 13mm; and the split pillion seat and entire tail piece has risen higher up in true sports bike fashion. The instrument console is fully digital now, and the plastic body panels enveloping the diamond frame with aluminium engine hangers have been fully redesigned to look more sporty and aerodynamic.

However, the 2016 Honda CBR150R is powered by the same engine as its predecessor, albeit tuned for marginally better performance. Thanks to the new ECU and exhaust system, peak power now stands at 17.1 PS at 9000rpm while max torque stands at 13.6 Nm at 7000rpm, paired with a six-speed transmission. Honda claims that the 2016 CBR150R has also been retuned for better mileage.
In terms of dimensions, the CBR150R measures 1,983mm in length, 694mm in width, 1,038mm in height, and weighs 135kg (kerb).

We reckon the 2016 Honda CBR150R will be launched in India later this year, probably just before the festive period.
