Ducati has officially entered the hardcore motocross segment in India with the launch of the Desmo450 MX. Known for its high-performance road bikes and racing pedigree, the Italian brand has now brought its advanced engineering into the world of dirt-focused motorcycles. The Desmo450 MX is designed purely for dirt tracks and off-road riding, making it one of the most exclusive motocross machines available in the country.
Powerful Engine With Ducati’s Signature Technology

The biggest talking point of the Ducati Desmo450 MX is its engine. The motorcycle is powered by a 449.6cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that uses Ducati’s iconic desmodromic valve actuation system, a technology usually seen on the brand’s MotoGP machines.
This engine produces 63.5PS at 9,400rpm and 53.5Nm at 7,500rpm, making it one of the most powerful engines in the 450cc motocross category. Paired with a 5-speed gearbox, the motor is tuned to deliver strong mid-range punch while also offering an impressive top-end, something that serious motocross riders value on demanding tracks.
Extremely Lightweight For Serious Dirt Performance

Another highlight of the Desmo450 MX is its lightweight construction. Ducati has used an aluminium perimeter frame, helping the bike maintain a wet weight (without fuel) of just 104.8kg. For perspective, even 100cc commuter motorcycles weigh more than this new Ducati. This extremely low weight should make the Ducati highly agile and easier to control on technical motocross tracks.
Premium Hardware And Advanced Electronics

Ducati has equipped the Desmo450 MX with high-end suspension components from Showa, including a fully-adjustable inverted fork and a rear monoshock. This setup allows riders to tune the suspension depending on track conditions. The front suspension offers 310mm of wheel travel, while the rear monoshock offers 301mm.
For braking, there are Brembo components on both ends, while the bike runs on 21-inch front and 19-inch rear wheels wrapped in knobby off-road tyres from Pirelli. The Desmo450 MX also features electronics rarely seen on motocross bikes, including Ducati Traction Control tuned for off-road riding, launch control, engine brake control, and customisable riding modes, helping riders maximise performance across different terrain conditions.
Zig Says

In India, the Desmo450 MX competes with established motocross machines like the KTM 450 SX-F and the Kawasaki KX450. However, at Rs 17.23 lakh, it is significantly more expensive than both.
The Desmo450 MX is far from a practical road-going motorcycle. It is aimed at professional racers and serious off-road enthusiasts who want cutting-edge technology and exclusivity in a motocross machine. For such riders, Ducati’s latest dirt bike represents some of the most advanced engineering currently available in the motocross world.
