You may have seen a door-ajar warning on many cars, but what if we told you a nice and thoughtful feature that Kia has silently incorporated into the Syros’s instrument cluster?

Kia Syros window-ajar warning feature

The Syros is the newest Kia offering in our market. It is a premium take on the sub-4m SUV category by the South Korean carmaker and is promising to attract a wider section of buyers, thanks to its expansive features set. We recently had the opportunity to sample the SUV when we also discovered a hidden small-yet-unique feature that even Kia hasn’t mentioned anywhere officially. Check the reel below:

In our recent outing with the Syros, our famous host, Tushar Kamath, was behind the wheel of the SUV when he discovered this hidden feature. What we are referring to is the window-ajar warning that pops up in the 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, much like how many other cars show when any one of the doors is left open. It has been neatly integrated into the digital cluster and shows animation for the exact window that’s left down when you switch off the vehicle.

Kia Syros cabin

Kia is offering the Syros in six broad variants: HTK, HTK (O), HTK Plus, HTX, HTX Plus, and HTX Plus (O). It will be positioned between the Sonet and Seltos SUVs in Kia’s Indian SUV lineup. Key features on offer include dual 12.3-inch screens, a panoramic sunroof, 64-colour ambient lighting, and front and rear ventilated seats. Passenger safety is taken care of by six airbags (as standard), front, side and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and ADAS.

It comes with the same 120 PS 1-litre turbo-petrol and 116 PS 1.5-litre diesel engines as the Sonet. While a 6-speed MT is available as standard, the former will get a choice of a 7-speed DCT whereas the diesel will get an optional 6-speed AT.

Kia Syros rear

The Syros has gone on sale in India, with prices ranging from Rs 9 lakh to Rs 17 lakh (introductory ex-showroom pan-India). It locks horns with the likes of the Tata Nexon, Skoda Kylaq, Mahindra XUV 3XO, and Maruti Brezza.
