Kia opened the order books of the Syros on January 3, 2025, and since then it has garnered over 20,000 bookings in less than 2 months (February 24). The credit for such high demand should be given to Kia for introducing something more premium and spacious in the subcompact SUV space, giving buyers something unique and appealing.
Kia also shared some insights, giving us an idea of what the Indian consumer wants. 46 percent of the buyers have opted for the top-spec variants. The majority (67 percent) of bookings have been registered for petrol-powered variants, and over 38 percent of the bookings have been made for automatic variants. The preferred colour option is Glacier White Pearl (32 percent), followed by the Aurora Black Pearl (26 percent) and Frost Blue (20 percent).
Here is a look at the Syros’ top 5 premium features that make it stand out!
The Syros features large 12.3-inch displays for the infotainment system as well the all-digital driver’s display. Additionally, it also gets a 5-inch screen for the climate controls, which along with the displays mentioned above makes it a 30-inch combined screen! Even the larger Seltos gets smaller dual 10.25-inch screens for the infotainment and driver’s display. The Syros’ infotainment comes with wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The Syros is the only sub-four metre SUV in India to get rear-seat ventilation – a feature that we usually get to see on cars from higher segments. This feature further adds a layer of cooling for the rear seat occupants in addition to the rear AC vents.
In addition to the front and rear parking sensors, Kia has equipped the Syros with side parking sensors as well. No other SUV in the segment comes with this safety feature, and even larger SUVs like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos come with only front and rear parking sensors.
Back seat comfort has been prioritized in the Syros! Along with seat ventilation, Kia has also given the option of reclining or sliding the rear seats as per the passenger’s needs and requirements. So if you are someone who spends a lot of time in the rear seat, this feature might be one of the reasons to pick the Syros over its rivals.
Ambient lighting is available with some of the SUVs of the segment, but Kia has taken it a step further by offering the Syros with 64 colours in the spectrum. This feature takes the experience inside the cabin to a whole new level!
The Syros’ prices range from Rs 8.99 lakh to Rs 17.79 lakh (ex-showroom). It is a premium alternative to sub-compact SUVs like the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon and the Mahindra XUV 3XO.
It also tussles with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq and the Maruti Grand Vitara as it sits in a similar price bracket.
The Syros already seems like a hit recipe for Kia with its compelling features list and roomy back seat. With so many orders already placed, we expect to see many of them on the roads very soon. What do you think about the Syros? Let us know in the comments below.
