The Kia Syros HTK (EX) has been priced from Rs 9.89 lakh (ex-showroom) and is available with turbo-petrol and diesel engine options. Here are its prices:

Notably, this new variant has been priced at a premium of Rs 50,000 over the corresponding HTK (O) trim it is based on, but what does this get you? Let’s find out:
Sitting above the HTK (O) variant that is based on, the new HTK (EX) trim brings forward some cosmetic enhancements from higher trims like:
16-inch alloy wheels
LED DRLs
LED headlamps and taillamps
Besides this, it continues with the same set of features offered in the HTK (O) variant such as a single-pane sunroof, 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, height-adjustable driver’s seat, electrically-adjustable and folding ORVMs, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay and manual AC.

The HTK (EX) gets the same amount of safety kit as the HTK (O) such as 6 airbags, reverse camera, electronic stability control, hill start assist, front and rear parking sensors and a tyre pressure monitoring system. It has also scored 5-stars in the Bharat NCAP crash tests.
Under the hood, the Syros HTK (EX) can be had with a 1-litre turbo petrol engine, or a 1.5-litre diesel engine as well. Here are the detailed specifications:

Notably, Kia also offers automatic gearbox options with the Syros in higher variants.
The Syros is Kia’s second model in the subcompact SUV segment, after the Sonet. It brings forward a unique personality with a boxy design, spacious interior and long list of features to differentiate it from the Sonet.

In terms of design, it gets unique vertically-stacked LED headlamps along with a blanked-out grille and a faux silver skid plate for a futuristic look. The side profile is also distinctive and gets thick cladding, along with a squared-off silhouette and 17-inch alloy wheels (in higher variants). At the rear, it gets a flat profile with ‘L-shaped’ taillamps flanking the windshield and a shark-fin antenna to complete the look.

Talking of equipment, the top variant is equipped with features such as a panoramic sunroof, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 5-inch touchscreen climate control panel, front and rear ventilated seats, 8-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a Level 2 ADAS suite and all-wheel disc brakes.

The Kia Syros goes up against other SUVs like the Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Skoda Kylaq, Mahindra XUV 3XO, and its own sibling, the Kia Sonet.
While the Syros may not have been a very popular option in this segment, this new variant with more features at a lower price point could increase its appeal further, especially amongst budget-conscious buyers looking for a spacious and family-friendly SUV.
