Kia Syros Crash Tested By Bharat NCAP, Scores A Perfect 5-star Safety Rating

The Kia Syros has proven its mettle in safety with a flawless 5-star rating in the Bharat NCAP safety crash test. With a robust safety package that includes several standard features across all trims, the Syros is a strong contender in the subcompact SUV segment. 

The Syros scored 30.21 out of 32 in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and 44.42 out of 49 for Child Occupant Protection (COP). This rating led to a commendable five stars in both. 

Here’s a breakdown of its crash test performance:

Adult Occupant Protection 

Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test Score: 14.21 out of 16.00

Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test: 16 out of 16.00 

The Syros performed exceptionally well in the frontal offset deformable barrier test. This result indicates that the driver’s and co-driver’s chest received adequate and good protection, respectively. The head, neck and pelvis region of both front occupants were rated as good. Meanwhile, both the tibias and right side tibias of the co-driver got only adequate shielding. Nevertheless, the Syros still managed to offer good protection to the driver’s feet and co-driver’s left tibias. 

The side movable deformable barrier test, which assesses the protection of passengers in side-impact crashes, resulted in a perfect score of 16 out of 16. In this test, all body parts of both the driver and co-driver were well-protected, the driver’s chest, which received good protection. 

The overall results ensure that the Syros offers ‘good’ primary protection for both front occupants.

Child Occupant Protection

The Kia Syros excelled in the Child Occupant Protection test as well. During dynamic tests using child restraint systems, the Syros achieved a score of 23.42 out of 24. For the 18-month-old child, the frontal and side impact protection was rated 7.58 out of 8 and 4 out of 4, respectively. 

Similarly, the 3-year-old child’s protection for both the frontal and side impacts was also impressive, with a near perfect score of 7.84 out of 8 and 4 out of 4, respectively. Unfortunately, Bharat NCAP doesn’t share a detailed report about Child Occupant Protection and hence, we haven’t mentioned a detailed report for this section.
