With the new version, Mercedes has given cosmetic tweaks to the exterior, and made the interior more luxurious with added features and premium touches. Check out all the details of the newly launched E-Class:
Here is a look at its variant-wise pricing.
Variants |
Price (ex-showroom) |
E 200 | Rs 78.5 lakh |
E 220 d | Rs 81.5 lakh |
E 450 | Rs 92.5 lakh |
The price for the new E-Class ranges from Rs 78.5 lakh to Rs 92.5 lakh (ex-showroom), offered across 3 different variants.
The E-Class maintains the similar design language that was offered with the outgoing model but you do get new design elements which set it apart from its predecessor. For starters, it now gets a bigger grille which houses tiny tri-pointed star elements and is surrounded by a chrome treatment. The LED headlights have received subtle changes, and are made sleeker now. The bumper gets a slightly redesigned look as well, and you also get faux air intakes.
In profile, you get a new design for the 18-inch alloy wheels which get chunkier tyres for better ride and handling. The flush door handles are well integrated and pop out electrically. The sleek looking sedan is now longer by 17 mm and also sits on a 15 mm larger wheelbase when compared to the outgoing model.

Coming to the rear, it features a new design for the LED tail lights which now houses tri-pointed star elements, which add a hint of coolness to the elegant looking sedan. The bumper design gets minor revisions as well. Rounding off the rear appearance is a chrome strip running across the width of the rear end, and chrome elements on the bumper which add contrast to the look.
The new E-Class can be had in five hues: Obsidian Black, High Tech Silver, Graphite Grey, Polar White and Nautic Blue.
The more serious and significant updates can be seen in the interior, where the new E-Class feels more modern and appealing. With the new version, you get Mercedes’ “Superscreen” which features a three display layout comprising a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, a 14.4-inch touchscreen infotainment and a 12.3-inch entertainment screen for the co-driver. Well, if you are someone who loves the tech and prefers having large screens then it's an addition that you will like. However, with lesser physical buttons, you will have to rely on the main screen a lot for even the simplest of tasks or functions.
It comes with 64 colours of ambient lighting which can be seen at most of the places inside the cabin. Plenty of soft touch materials further accentuate the premium feel of the cabin.
The rear seats are where someone who buys an E-Class would spend most of their time. So to optimize the experience, the seats are offered with 36 degrees of recline and 40 degrees of underthigh support extension. Furthermore, you also get a wireless phone charger and dedicated zones of climate control for you to control the temperature as per your individual requirements.
The features list comprises a host of amenities that will make you want to spend even more time inside the car. In addition to the features mentioned above, it comes with a panoramic sunroof, dual wireless phone chargers (front and rear), four-zone climate control, a 730W 17-speaker Burmester 4D sound system, powered tailgate, and powered front seats with memory function.
It also gets a cool self-facing camera feature, which can be used to attend live Zoom calls on the move or just to click selfies with the gang!
Ensuring your safety are the multiple airbags, front and rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, ABS with EBD, a 360-degree camera and a tyre pressure monitoring system. Additionally, you also get ADAS features like automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning.
The E-Class is now available with a 2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine which produces 197 PS and 320 Nm and a 2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine which makes 200 PS and 440 Nm, both of which are paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission which sends power to the rear wheels. Both engines come with a mild-hybrid which gives a boost of 27 PS for 30 seconds.
The E-Class E450 has been introduced with a more potent 3-litre six-cylinder petrol engine which makes 381 PS.
The E-Class deliveries will begin soon for the E200 variant. For the E220 d and E450 variants, deliveries will commence later this year. The new iteration of the E-Class will prove to be a tougher competitor to the likes of the BMW 5 Series and Audi A6.
