After racking up over 70,000 bookings, Mahindra seems to be struggling to hand over XUV700 units to its customers within time. Screenshots are now circling around the internet stating customers are now having to wait until 2023 to get their hands on one! You can check out the XUV700’s waiting period timeline in all metros.
Mahindra used a dedicated software to give customers an estimated launch timeline. It gives you the result based on the variant, colour, powertrain, and the location of your dealership. Bear in mind, this isn’t exactly on a first-come-first-serve basis, as deliveries for the first batch of bookings are being held up as well.
Most of the demand is coming for the top-spec AX7 diesel variants, including the AX7 Luxury Pack and AX7L AWD. The AX7 and AX7L can be had with manual and automatic transmissions, while the AX7L AWD is offered only with the automatic. It also must be noted that deliveries of the petrol variant, which began in October, preceded the diesel.

The XUV700 comes equipped with many hi-tech features such as Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), electronically pop-out door handles, wireless phone chargers, and dual 10.25-inch screens. Plenty of these features need hi-tech chips and it’s quite evident that the ongoing chip shortage is haunting the SUV giant.
Chances are that Mahindra is prepping up an AX7 Smart variant as an option to have faster handover times. It will miss out on ADAS, drive modes, electronic parking brake, hill hold/descent control, knee airbag, electronic stability program, wireless charger, smart door handles, and driver drowsiness detection. An official confirmation is awaited on the same.
