The 5 door Mahindra Thar ROXX is slated to launch on August 15. We have seen the exterior of the Thar ROXX in recent teasers, but the interior has not been officially showcased yet. However, the Mahindra Thar ROXX’s interior has been spied, and we can confirm that it is a mid-spec variant as it misses out on niceties like the panoramic sunroof, a fully digital driver’s display and more.
Here’s everything we could decode from the leaked video:
The first thing that catches your attention are the beige seats, which is a new addition to the Thar. While it adds to the premiumness, the biggest downside would be that it will be difficult to maintain it as they tend to get soiled easily, especially if you take it off-road.
Another great news is that the mid-spec variant will come with a single-pane sunroof, which is not available on the current model. However, the top-spec variants are going to be equipped with a panoramic sunroof, giving the cabin a more premium feel.
Apart from these observations, we could also spot the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, analogue dials with a multi-information display, bezel-less IRVM, manual AC (top model likely to get dual-zone climate control) and the steering wheel has been lifted off from the XUV700. You can also notice the lack of the lever to shift into four-wheel drive, hinting this is the rear-wheel drive version.
The rear seats now get a centre armrest, which was not offered in the 3-door version. Apart from that, it also gets rear AC vents, 3-point seatbelts, roof-mounted speakers and dedicated adjustable headrest for the centre passengers. The Thar ROXX will not get a third row seating option, meaning it will be offered as a 5-seater only.

Being a mid-spec variant it misses out on some of the features that the top-spec variant of the Thar ROXX is expected to get. These features include a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a 360-degree camera as well as probably, a wireless phone charger and a dual-zone climate control.
While features such as 6 airbags, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors are standard, the top-spec variant is also expected to get a host of ADAS features.
The Mahindra Thar ROXX is likely to be equipped with a 150 PS 2-litre turbo-petrol and a 132 PS 2.2-litre diesel engine, but with more power. A six-speed manual and an automatic transmission are expected to be on offer. The off-roader will get both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive options.
The upcoming Mahindra Thar ROXX is expected to be priced from around Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom). It will lock horns with the Force Gurkha 5-door, while being a larger alternative to the Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
