A teaser image from Mahindra has confirmed that the Thar ROXX will get a feature you all love very much - a panoramic sunroof! Yes, you read that right. The possibility of this feature being available was hinted at in a previous spy shot, but this teaser now gives away light that it has been confirmed.
This is great news for potential customers as the Thar ROXX’s immediate rivals – the Force Gurkha and Maruti Suzuki Jimny – don’t even come with a sunroof.
The latest teaser of the Mahindra Thar ROXX also sheds a couple more details.
For starters, the seats and pillars are draped in beige upholstery and while they do look premium, it is bound to get soiled if you intend to go off-road. The rear seat has a head-rest for the middle seater, hinting that it will be a five-seater (Thar 3-door is a four-seater). Also, at least from the peak from the panoramic sunroof, we don’t see the presence of a third row.

Lastly, the teaser reveals the presence of a floating infotainment system, which brings us to the next topic.
The Thar ROXX, as seen in spy shots, will come loaded with plentiful new features such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, LED headlights, a 360-degree camera and keyless entry with push button start. A wireless phone charger, a branded audio system and dual-zone climate control are expected to be part of the package.

On the safety front, it should come with six airbags (as standard), ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, electronic stability control and ADAS.
The Mahindra Thar ROXX is expected to be powered by the smaller 3-door version’s 150 PS 2-litre turbo-petrol and 132 PS 2.2-litre diesel engines, albeit with more power. Six-speed manual and automatic transmissions are expected to be on offer as is rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive.

The latter could also come with a mechanical locking differential for improved off-roading prowess.
One can expect the upcoming Mahindra Thar ROXX to be priced from around Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom). It will rival the Force Gurkha 5-door, while being a larger alternative to the Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
