BSA B65 Scrambler, Also Known As BSA Scrambler 650 To Launch Soon In The UK, India Launch Likely in 2026

Officially unveiled last year, BSA is gearing up to launch its all-new 650cc Scrambler in the UK very soon. Based on the BSA Gold Star 650, the Scrambler promises to bring a rugged twist to the brand’s heritage-styled roadster. And while it may take a little longer to arrive on Indian shores, we could expect the brand to launch it in India early next year. 

While the official name is still unclear, it was dubbed the BSA B65 Scrambler when it was showcased at the Birmingham Motorcycle Live show in 2024. We first saw the scrambler as a concept way back in late-2022, and since then the bike has been refined with more production-friendly bits. For convenience, let’s call this motorcycle the BSA Scrambler 650 from hereon.

A Proper Scrambler

Though it shares a lot of things with the BSA Gold Star, the Scrambler is far from just a rebadged sibling (*cough* CB350RS *cough*). At first glance, it’s clear that BSA has put in serious effort to differentiate its identity from its road-biased sibling. It retains the 652cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine from the Gold Star, which makes 45PS and 55Nm as the roadster, but the rest of the bike has been designed to offer a distinct scrambler character.

The BSA Scrambler 650 swaps out the Gold Star’s polished chrome tank for a more rugged, matte-painted fuel tank with BSA badging. It also gets a smaller round headlight with a protective grille, a braced handlebar, and a beak-style front fender, which instantly gives it that go-anywhere, off-road-ready look. 

The bike also features a compact tail section and revised taillight setup that looks much neater than the Gold Star. Adding to its retro-scrambler look, it appears that BSA has taken a page out of Royal Enfield’s book, as the bike features a side-mounted race plate with the number ‘65’ - a nod to the engine displacement.

Ready for the Rough Stuff

It comes equipped with spoke wheels (19-inch front, 17-inch rear) with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres. That said, expect the Indian version to get something more local, maybe the capable Apollo Trampler XR tyres. The suspension setup includes telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers, but we expect BSA to tweak them differently, and with more travel to be able to tackle rough roads better. 

BSA may also consider revising the rear sprocket for improved bottom-end performance, which would make the bike more tractable in rough terrain. This is also something which the Gold Star lacks, as the bike requires you to be in the right gear at the right time to extract all the performance.

It also gets a bash plate under the engine that should offer protection while riding off the beaten path, and the bike might (and also should) feature switchable rear ABS—a useful tool for controlled off-road slides.

Retro With A Modern Touch

The scrambler sports a single-pod instrument cluster, likely a digital unit. While details are still under wraps, we expect a minimalistic yet functional layout - hopefully with basic connectivity.

A New Rival Brewing

While the UK market will get the Scrambler first, BSA has its work cut out as it will rival the Royal Enfield Bear 650 both in the UK as well as in India when it is launched. As for the pricing in India, it could cost around Rs Rs 3.4 lakh (ex-showroom). Sure, the Bear has the first mover’s advantage, but the BSA will give a taste of the scrambler genre in a different flavour thanks to the distinct large capacity single-cylinder engine. If priced well, and if BSA manages to have a good presence in its markets, the Scrambler could be BSA’s next ‘Gold Star’.
