Looks like the baby Hornet’s pricing, despite being introductory, is going to sting!

BREAKING NEWS: Honda CB125 Hornet & Shine 100 DX Launched In India

Just over a week after unveiling the CB125 Hornet and Shine 100 DX, Honda has now announced the prices of these two new motorcycles. The CB125 Hornet has been launched at a limited-period introductory price of Rs 1,12,000, while the Shine 100 DX has been priced at Rs 74,959 (both prices ex-showroom Gurugram, Haryana). Bookings are now open, and deliveries will begin from mid-August 2025 in a phased manner. Expect the two Honda bikes to start hitting the streets on India’s Independence Day (August 15). 

Honda CB125 Hornet: The Most Expensive Bike In Its Segment

It appears that the new baby Hornet is another victim of the infamous Honda tax. Priced at Rs 1,12,000 (ex-showroom, Gurugram), the CB125 Hornet is quite expensive when we consider the bikes it's going against. The TVS Raider’s top variant is affordable by almost Rs 10,000, while offering segment-first riding modes, among other goodies. The Hero Xtreme 125R has a similar story and costs Rs 12,000 less than the Hornet, while packing a fairly healthy list of features and more importantly, single-channel ABS. 

Heck, even the Bajaj Pulsar NS125 and the N125 are way more affordable than the Honda. To top it off, considering the pricing of the Hornet is introductory, expect the final pricing to be even more. 

Sure, Honda does claim that it is the quickest bike in its segment, but if you add just Rs 1,000 more, you can get your hands on a Bajaj Pulsar 150. The Pulsar is not only a more powerful and quicker bike, but also has a timeless design language. 

Honda CB125 Hornet TFT Console

The Honda does give you a TFT console and an upside-down fork, but for the price it commands, the features aren’t justified in our opinion. Instead of the upside-down fork, Honda could have given the baby Hornet dual-channel ABS instead. 

But if you want a motorcycle which will really stands out, there’s nothing else in the segment which looks like the Honda, especially with the funky colour schemes it comes with. 

Honda Shine 100 DX: Value For Money

Honda Shine 100 DX

At Rs 74,959 (ex-showroom Gurugram), the Shine 100 DX slots neatly between the Shine 100 and Livo. It’s a solid attempt at making the 100cc commuter a bit more premium, without being too ambitious. There’s nothing deal-breaking as such, but if we were to comment on the scope of improvement, we would have liked it to have an LED headlight to round things off.
