The upcoming Skoda Kylaq has already garnered a lot of attention ahead of its India launch next year. It will be the entry-level Skoda SUV on our shores and will take on SUVs like the Maruti Fronx, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV 3XO and Maruti Brezza. While some of its features have been revealed, we expect the Kylaq to be well-equipped with comforts and safety features.
In this article, we will be taking you through the 6 features that the upcoming Kylaq is expected to get over the Fronx. So if you are in the market for a feature-rich subcompact SUV and are okay to wait for a few more months, then you should take a look at the list:
The Skoda Kylaq is expected to borrow the 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system from its larger sibling, the Kushaq. The Fronx on the other hand gets a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system which looks a tad bit smaller in comparison with the Skoda’s unit. Both infotainment systems come equipped with features such as wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
A fan favorite feature which has become a common sight in many modern age cars is the sunroof. The Fronx does not get a sunroof, while the Kylaq is likely to get a single-pane unit. Some of their rivals are offering a panoramic sunroof, so it would make sense for Skoda to launch the Kylaq with a regular sunroof at least.
The Kylaq will probably be launched with an 8-inch digital driver’s display. This feature makes the tech package more modern. The Fronx comes with conventional analogue dials and a multi-information display.
While Maruti does offer 6 airbags with the Fronx, they are not offered as standard across all variants. On the other hand, Skoda has confirmed that the Kylaq will come with 6 airbags as standard fitment.
Maruti offers 6 airbags as standard with some of its other cars, but the Fronx is yet to get the necessary update. With safety norms getting stricter, we expect Maruti to soon upgrade the Fronx with the same (probably by the time the Kylaq arrives on our shores, but you never know).
Skoda has confirmed that the Kylaq will be equipped with ventilated front seats. This feature is not offered with the Fronx. Ventilated front seats are a great addition keeping in mind the hot summers that we get to experience in India.
Not as necessary as some of the other features on the list, but it sure is a desirable and convenient one to have. The powered driver seats will have a 6-way adjustable function and this feature will add to the premiumness of the cabin. The Fronx gets manual adjustment for its front seats.
Which feature from this list would you want the most in your car? Let us know in the comments below.
The Skoda Kylaq will debut on November 6, 2024 and is expected to be launched in early 2025.It could be priced from Rs 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The Maruti Fronx is priced from 7.51 lakh to Rs 13.03 lakh. Their rivals include the Toyota Taisor, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Nissan Magnite, Mahindra XUV 3XO and Maruti Brezza.
