Yamaha is working on the next-generation Yamaha X-Max 250. The 250cc maxi-scooter is currently sold in Europe and South-East Asian countries. It is expected to feature a new motor to meet upcoming Euro 5 regulations and could get cosmetic updates as well. Yamaha also sells the X-Max in different engine configurations ranging between 125cc and 400cc.

The upcoming scooter could get a revised bodywork while the existing twin LED headlamps, LED tail lamps and large windscreen could be revised as well. It is likely to retain its twin-pod semi-digital instrument console, albeit with some added features.

The 249cc liquid-cooled and fuel-injected motor is expected to get a catalytic converter in order to meet Euro 5 regulations. The engine could retain the same power and torque outputs as before: 22.8PS and 24.3Nm.

The X-Max 250 could carry over its predecessor’s front telescopic fork and rear dual shock absorber suspension setup. Even the 15-inch front and 14-inch rear alloy wheels as well as the braking system - disc brakes at both ends - could be retained.
Given the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 Yamaha X-Max 250 could be launched early next year. While the X-Max 250 will be limited to markets overseas, the smaller but equally sporty NMax 155 might come to India as well.
