The 5-door Mahindra Thar Roxx has been launched with prices starting from Rs 12.99 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom), and it comes equipped with loads of features. The 3-door Thar, which for a long time has not been updated, comes with a rather basic set of features in comparison to the 5-door Thar.

In this story, we take a look at how the Thar Roxx takes the Thar’s feature experience further, with these 12 features which it offers over the 3-door version.

While the 3-door Thar still comes with halogen headlamps, the Thar Roxx is being offered with LED projector headlamps, which also comes with C-shaped LED DRLs.
Unlike the 3-door Thar, which needs a key to be started, the Thar Roxx comes with push button start/stop, which increases the convenience. In addition, the fuel filler cap is now electronically controlled.

To enhance the cabin convenience even further, the Thar Roxx comes with automatic climate control. The 3-door Thar still comes with manual AC.

Unlike the 3-door Thar which comes with manual seat adjustment, the Thar Roxx gets a 6-way power adjustable driver seat.

Mahindra is also offering ventilated front seats with the Thar Roxx for added comfort.

Mahindra is offering the Thar Roxx with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, similar to the one seen in the XUV 3XO. This screen supports wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay, and you can listen to your favorite music via a 9-speaker Harman Kardon sound system which comes with a 560W amplifier. The Thar gets a smaller 7-inch unit with wired connectivity.

Another feature that the Thar Roxx gets over the standard Thar is a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, which is also the same unit as the one seen in the XUV 3XO.

Sunroof has become a big feature in the Indian market and most new cars now come with this installment. The Thar Roxx offers a panoramic sunroof in the top-spec variants, and its lower variants come with a single-pane unit.

While the 3-door Thar only offers 12V socket and USB charging ports to charge your phone, the Thar Roxx comes with a wireless phone charger placed under the climate control panel. It also gets Type-C ports.
Mahindra has also made improvements to the safety kit of the That nameplate, and the Thar Roxx comes with 6 airbags as standard. It also gets over 35 standard safety features. The 3-door Thar still offers dual-front airbags.

The 3-door Thar comes with a rear parking camera, but the Thar Roxx is being offered with a 360-degree camera setup, with both 2D and 3D views.

Lastly, Mahindra has added Level 2 ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) features to the Thar Roxx including lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and autonomous emergency braking.

Mahindra has announced the price of the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) variants of the Thar Roxx, which range from Rs 12.99 lakh to Rs 20.49 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom). Prices of the four-wheel-drive variants are expected to be out soon. The Mahindra Thar Roxx is a direct rival to the 5-door Force Gurkha, and it also acts as a bigger and more premium alternative to the Maruti Jimny and 3-door Mahindra Thar.
