MG Air is a two-door city EV with up to four seats.
Gets two battery sizes overseas with 200km and 300km range, paired with a 41PS e-motor.
Features include a large touchscreen, digital driver’s display and climate control.
Likely to be priced from Rs 10 lakh onwards (ex-showroom).
MG Motor has announced that it’ll unveil a new vehicle in India on January 5. We reckon this could be the carmaker’s first mass-market electric offering, the Air EV, that was expected to be unveiled around the same time.
The Air EV is a cutesy two-door EV that’s available as a two-seater or four-seater overseas. It’ll go head-to-head with the Tata Tiago EV and Tigor EV.
On the outside, the Air EV looks unconventional with its diminutive wheels and boxy styling. It has a full-width LED light strip below the windshield with a pair of headlights placed further downward. The four-seater version gets a set of airline-like windows for the rear passengers that extend below the front window line.
The oddball exterior styling gives way to a clean, minimalist interior design. A single floating panel on the dashboard houses the infotainment touchscreen and digital driver’s display, both massive 10.25-inch units. Other features include climate control, a floating centre console, steering-mounted controls, keyless entry and connected car tech.

We expect the MG Air EV to carry a price tag of around Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). It is the carmaker’s second EV in the country after the ZS EV electric SUV, and is expected to be launched sometime in early 2023.
