Had your eyes set on the new MG Comet? Well, we have some good news for you as we have its launch date. The prices of the micro compact electric vehicle are all set to be announced on April 26. And while bookings are officially yet to open, select dealers have already begun taking reservations for a token amount.

The Comet EV will be the carmaker’s entry-level electric vehicle in India after the ZS EV. The electric model has a tiny footprint and four primary colour options. On top of that, MG is offering dual-tone colours as well as customisation packs with body decals and stickers. To take a closer look at how the Comet looks in different colours, check this report.

On the inside, the Comet EV gets dual 10.25-inch screens comprising the digital driver’s display and touchscreen infotainment system. Other design touches include a two-spoke steering wheel with Apple iPod-like controls. And to enter the rear seats, the co-driver seat gets a touch flip function.

In terms of features, the Comet EV gets wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car tech, keyless entry with push button start, digital key with sharing ability (through app), and front power windows. Passenger safety is taken care of by dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors with camera and ISOFIX child seat mounts.

Based on a leaked document, the Comet EV’s specifications are out. It will be powered by a 41PS e-motor that takes juice from a 17.3kWh battery pack, promising a claimed range of 230km. To take a detailed look at its specifications including charging times, check out this report.

We suspect the Comet EV is likely to be priced from around Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be a smaller alternative to the Tata Tiago EV and Citroen eC3.
