Ahead of the expected launch in the coming days, MG has teased the Comet EV Blackstorm edition for the very first time. It will give the cute-looking Comet a stealthy appearance as it is expected to feature an all-black exterior with red accents. The Comet EV will become the fourth MG vehicle after the Astor, Hector and Gloster to receive the special edition treatment.
Here’s everything we could decode from the teaser and what one should expect from the special edition:
In the teaser, we can see that the Comet EV Blackstorm will be offered in an appealing black hue. We can also spot red accents up front in the lower section of the bumper. For a sportier contrast, you get the “Morris Garages” lettering in red and a red star-like design on the wheels. The teaser also showcased connected LED DRLs and an illuminated MG logo, similar to the standard version.
While the rear look was not revealed, one can expect some red accents there as well. Just like we have seen on other Blackstorm Edition models, we expect the Comet EV special edition to also get special edition badges.
MG has not disclosed the interior of the Comet EV yet, but we expect it to come with an all-black theme like the other Blackstorm Edition models. The dashboard design and layout will be the same as the regular version of the Comet. Additionally, It is also expected to get black upholstery, and Blackstorm badging embossed on the headrest. To complement the exterior, we can expect MG to give it a few red inserts inside the cabin as well.
Similar to most special edition models, the changes will be aesthetic only. The equipment list will be carried over from the standard Comet. The top features include a 10.25-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch driver’s display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, two speakers, electrically foldable ORVMs, a reverse parking camera, dual airbags and keyless entry.
The powertrain department is also expected to remain unchanged. It will get the 17.3 kWh battery pack paired with an RWD electric motor that makes 42 PS and 110 Nm. It offers an ARAI-claimed range of up to 230 km.
It would be safe to assume that MG will charge a minor premium for this special edition over the regular variants. The standard Comet EV is priced from Rs 7 lakh to Rs 9.83 lakh (ex-showroom). However, you can also go with the BaaS plan through which the prices range from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 7.66 lakh, but you will have to pay an additional cost of Rs 2.5 per km.
