On November 26, Mahindra introduced the all-electric XEV 9e alongside the BE 6e. The XEV 9e comes in 3 variants, namely One, Two, and Three but the brand has revealed the price of only the One variant, which is Rs 21.90 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom). Along with the price reveal, Mahindra has also revealed the stand out features of this entry-level variant, which is what we’ll be talking about in this report.
Outside, the One variant of the XEV 9e gets an illuminated logo, bi-functional LED headlights, 19-inch steel wheels with aero covers, and body cladding. Inside, there are fabric seat covers for seats and a 60:40 split system for 2nd-row seats with multi-step recline. It also has a 663 litres of boot space and a 150 litres of front trunk (frunk).

A very good bit according to us is that the base version of the XEV 9e is very well loaded. The One variant is equipped with a cruise control, three-screen setup (comprising a digital driver’s display, infotainment touchscreen, and co-driver’s display), wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, connected car tech, 6 speakers (including 2 tweeters), Amazon Alexa compatibility, auto headlamps, push button start/stop, rain sensing wipers, cooled centre storage, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, 65 Watt USB Type-C charging ports, and multiple driving modes.

Safety kit includes 6 airbags, 4-wheel disc brakes, brake-by-wire, electronic parking brake, driver drowsiness detection, rearview parking camera with sensors, and low tyre pressure indicator.
Powering the entry level One variant of the XEV 9e is a 59 kWh battery pack paired with a single motor that makes 231 PS and 380 Nm. This rear-wheel drive variant offers an MIDC (Phase 1+2) range of up to 535 km.
In terms of charging, the XEV 9e’s One variant supports 140kW DC fast charger, which juices up the battery pack from 20 to 80 percent in a claimed 20 minutes. On the other hand, the optional 7.2kW and 11.2kW units can charge the 59 kWh battery from 0-100 percent in 8.7 hours and 6 hours, respectively.

Currently, there are no direct rivals to the XEV 9e but it takes on a few EV offerings, such as the MG ZS EV and BYD Atto 3. On the other hand, it also serves as an affordable alternative to the Hyundai Ioniq 5.
