Mahindra meant serious arrival as they brought the BE 6 into the market. This compact electric SUV, be it in terms of design, features, or performance, is definitely one to watch out for. In the same segment, its key rival Atto 3 comes from Chinese automaker BYD, which has been gradually expanding its presence in India. That said, in this report, we take a detailed look at the specs and features of both SUVs to see who stands for more value. Let’s begin.

|
Price (ex-showroom) |
Rs 18.9 lakh to Rs 26.9 lakh |
Rs 24.99 lakh to Rs 33.99 lakh |
The Mahindra BE 6 turns out to be the more affordable option for a compact electric SUV than the BYD Atto 3 by up to Rs 7 lakh. However, this comes with various taxes and duties at play, so whether it truly translates to better value is something to be examined in detail. We’ve done just that next.

The BYD Atto 3 is the longer car of the two, but that’s about it. The BE 6 is wider, taller, has a longer wheelbase, and even offers a bigger boot space for that matter.

The Mahindra BE 6 is also more feature-rich compared to the Atto 3. It comes with a larger instrument panel, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, memory function for the front seats, seat ventilation, an AR-based head-up display, sunroof illumination, dual-zone climate control, dual wireless phone chargers, and twice the number of speakers. On top of that, it also gets an auto-park feature, setting it apart from many others in and around its segment.
The BYD Atto 3 does share many features with the BE 6 but has only one notable advantage – a slightly larger, rotating touchscreen. Not sure if that counts for you.

Talking performance, the Mahindra BE 6 once again outshines the Atto 3 with larger battery packs powering its rear-wheel-drive motor, delivering higher outputs than its rival and achieving the 0-100 kmph sprint almost a second quicker. That said, it also boasts a significantly greater claimed range.
That being said, the Atto 3’s claimed range isn’t bad either.
Well, with Indian sentiments in play, there’s no point in putting these two cars head-to-head. But even so, it’s good to see the Mahindra BE 6 doing things a lot better at a much more affordable price, being completely manufactured in India. There’s really no reason why you would pick an Atto 3 over a BE 6.
But if you choose to do so, we’d love to know why. Tell us in the comments!
