Both Tata Tiago and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios get 1.2-litre petrol units. While the Tiago makes 86PS/113Nm, the engine in Grand i10 Nios puts out 83PS/114Nm. However, a huge difference here is the number of cylinders. The 4-cylinder engine in the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is smooth and the gearbox offers smooth gearshifts, whereas the 3-cylinder engine on Tiago is a bit noisy. If refinement is what you are after, the petrol engine of Tiago does disappoint quite a bit. There is a lot engine noise that creeps in especially when pushed hard and in general, it just feels very rough. But, it makes up for it with being raspy and rev happy. On the other hand, the Nios petrol AMT feels calm and relaxing, and if you are in a hurry you could use the gear lever to control the gearshift. Moreover, we would suggest you to take a test ride for a better understanding of performance and comfort. Click on the link and select your desired city for dealership details.
