Q. I am looking for an automatic vehicle mostly for city drive with occasional short trips. My budget is 7.5 lakhs. I am confused between Tiago XZA plus (Amt) and Grand i10 Nios Magna AMT. My priorities are smooth automatic transmission, safety and maintenance. Please suggest.

Both cars are good enough. If we talk about Tata Tiago, it has one of the most attractive designs at this price point. Great build quality and the 4-stars in Global NCAP speaks highly about safety. It offers good fuel efficiency and a good feature list at a price too. However, its three-cylinder engine lacks punch and is noisy also it is not as spacious as rivals. On the other hand, except for a few niggles in terms of its feature list and variant wise equipment, the Hyundai delivers on its promise. If the style quotient at the rear matched up to the face, the Nios would have had a much stronger presence. Other than that the Nios packs more on just about every front. From features, space and convenience to cabin experience and comfort, the Nios is more welcoming and distinctive. It gets better-refined engines and smooth AMT. You may compare both cars accordingly. Refinement is better in nios and the space and quality of dashboard and I belive it's a good package for City drive and occasional Highway trips.
