The biggest miss is in the powertrain department, where the Triber clearly still lacks the excitement and punch

Renault Triber Facelift: 5 Things That Would Have Made It More highlights

The Renault Triber facelift has been launched in India at a rather value-for-money price range, making it the most affordable MPV on our shores. While the facelift comes with a slight price increase, new styling bits and extra features definitely make the MPV smarter. However, it still has a few misses which have not been addressed by Renault. So in this article, we take you through the 5 things that would have made the Triber facelift more intriguing…

It Needs More POWER!

We were expecting Renault to offer the facelift with the Kiger’s 1-litre turbo petrol engine which puts out about 100 PS. Sadly, the Triber continues to be powered by the 1-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol unit which feels rather underpowered at 72 PS and 96 Nm of max output. The lack of a powerful engine will surely be felt, especially if you travel with more than four people on board.

Still No Alloy Wheels

The Triber facelift comes with 15-inch styled wheels, which look good and go well with the overall styling, but alloy wheels would have surely elevated the look of the profile. Renault could have at least offered them with the top-spec variant of the Triber. With black ORVMS, roof rails and door handles, a nice set of black alloy wheels would have made the MPV look dapper.

A Larger Infotainment System!

The facelift continues to get the same 8-inch infotainment system, albeit in a different floating layout. While the unit offers features like wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a larger system would have clearly added a more premium vibe inside the cabin. Renault has been offering the same unit for many years now, and a larger infotainment would have been appreciated.

Sunroof

The sunroof is definitely India’s favourite feature, and its presence makes the cabin feel more airy and premium as well. Carmakers have started to offer this feature even on their entry-level offerings and the demand for a sunroof is clearly there in the market. While we were expecting Renault to add the crowd-favourite feature to the list of new amenities, it still remains a miss.

A Branded Audio System

The Triber comes with a 6-speaker audio system carried over from the pre-facelift model. This audio system won’t excite you, and the need for a branded and more sophisticated sound system is clearly there. Most buyers will have to rely on upgrading the sound system from aftermarket options.

The Triber is not an expensive car, so we should not be greedy when it comes to features. However, these additions would have made a big difference. The biggest miss remains the turbo-petrol engine which the Triber really needs.
