Tata Motors To Confirm More Details On The Punch SUV On October 4

Latest teasers of the Tata Punch suggest the micro SUV could get Terrain modes similar to the Harrier and Safari. Also, the folks at our partner portal Powerdrift managed to snap the SUV stretching its legs over some rough terrain.
Top-spec trims of the Harrier and Safari come with three ESP-based terrain modes: Normal, Rough, and Wet. They alter the throttle response and electronic stability control to tackle various terrains. The Punch could get a similar setup with electronic stability control, but like the flagship SUVs, it will likely be limited to the higher-spec trims.
Like other Tata cars, the Punch should get Drive modes namely Eco, City, and Sport. Other notable features should include a 7-inch infotainment system, connected car tech, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a semi-digital instrument cluster (a la Altroz), Harman sound system, and climate control.
The Punch is likely to be a petrol-only offering with the Altroz’ 86PS 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine. It should be offered with a 5-speed manual and an AMT. Besides, a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and an all-electric powertrain can’t be ruled out, as they could be introduced in the future.
