You Can Now Book Your Skoda Karoq Or BS6 Rapid For Rs 50,000

Skoda India has begun taking bookings for the Karoq SUV and BS6 Rapid sedan. You can book either car for a refundable sum of Rs 50,000. While the Rapid is identical to the BS4 model other than its 1.0-litre TSI engine, the Karoq is an all-new SUV from Skoda. Expect the BS6 Rapid to demand a premium over its predecessor. Likely to be priced at around Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom), the Karoq will rival the Jeep Compass. 

In the BS6 era, all Skoda models will be sold with petrol engines. Skoda has replaced the Rapid’s 1.6 MPI and 1.5 TDI engines with a new 1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine, which makes 115PS and 200Nm. The carmaker had showcased the new Rapid at Auto Expo 2020. It features minor cosmetic updates.  A matte-black version could be introduced at launch or later in the year. 

Unveiled at Auto Expo 2020, the Karoq is a midsizer equipped with a 1.5-litre TSI engine. The petrol mill produces 150PS of power and 250Nm of torque and is paired with a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic. It will have an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a digital driver’s display, which Skoda calls Virtual Cockpit. In addition, the Karoq will feature a panoramic sunroof and a total of nine airbags. 

Skoda is expected to launch the two cars in India soon. The Karoq is the first in Skoda’s line of five new cars for India between 2020 and 2021. We might lament the demise of the carmaker’s TDI engines, but the BS6 era is expected to bring us some of Skoda’s best TSI turbo-petrol engines.
