Skoda Auto India has taken the wraps off the Karoq SUV at Auto Expo 2020. The Karoq sits below the Kodiaq and takes on the likes of the Jeep Compass and Volkswagen T-ROC. The premium midsize SUV will be brought as a Completely Built-up Unit (CBU) and is slated for launch in April 2020.

Visually, the Karoq looks like a mini Kodiaq with similar design elements and silhouettes. The front end comes with the trademark butterfly grille, sleek LED headlamps and a pair of LED fog lamps, whose set up mimics the Kodiaq. At the side, highlights include squared-out wheel arches and a prominent shoulder line that runs through the profile. At the rear, the Karoq comes with ‘C’ shaped tail lamps.

Under the hood, the Karoq comes with a BS6-compliant 1.5-litre TSI engine that develops 150PS and 250Nm. Transmission options for this powertrain include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG. There won’t be a Karoq TDI in the initial phase as Skoda Auto Volkswagen India might choose to go the petrol-only route in BS6 era
