Production-ready Yamaha FZ V3.0 Spotted; Gets LED Headlamp

With the scheduled launch date of the Yamaha FZ V3.0 coming closer, clearer images of the bike has surfaced online. One such image shows the front section of the bike. What is immediately apparent is the new LED headlamp setup. Interestingly, the headlight seems to be divided into two sections, with the lower stack possibly being the low beam and higher stack being the high beam. It also gets a larger flyscreen and the turn indicators are now placed a bit higher. The front mudguard also seems to have been slightly revised.

Other changes to the new bike include a new fuel tank with larger tank shrouds similar to the Yamaha FZ 25, a new exhaust cover, shorter tail unit and a new tyre hugger. Another major revision is the inclusion of a single piece seat, replacing the split seats of the current-gen FZ.

Yamaha is likely to carry over the existing 149cc fuel-injected single-cylinder engine in the same state of tune. It’s also quite possible that the new bike could get an updated motor to comply with BSVI emission norms. With the exception of the alloy wheels, the underpinnings seem to be carried over from the existing FZ S. The bike will be launched with ABS, which is likely to be a low-cost single-channel unit unlike the dual-channel unit on the recently launched Yamaha R15 V3.0 ABS.

The Yamaha FZ S has been long overdue for an update and it seems this time, the Japanese manufacturer has gone for a complete overhaul to keep up with the competition. However, expect this to come at a price as the new FZ is likely to cost around Rs 10,000 - Rs 15,000 more than the current version, which retails at Rs 84,042 (ex-showroom, Delhi). When launched, it will compete against the Honda CB Hornet 160 R, Suzuki Gixxer, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and the Bajaj Pulsar NS 160.
