Porsche will launch the Cayenne Coupe in India on December 13

  • Porsche will offer the base Cayenne Coupe and the Cayenne Coupe Turbo
  • Porsche India has also listed the Cayenne E-Hybrid and S E-Hybrid.
  • Expect it to be priced around Rs 1.4 crore to Rs 2 crore (ex-showroom India).
  • The Cayenne Coupe will rival the BMW X6 and the GLE Coupe.

Back in July when Porsche launched the 2019 Macan facelift in India, the German giant also hinted that it will be bringing in the Taycan and the Cayenne Coupe. Now we have official confirmation  that the Cayenne Coupe will be launched on December 13. The SUV coupe will be offered in two versions: base Cayenne coupe with a V6 and the Cayenne Coupe Turbo with a V8. We’ve already spent some time with the Cayenne Coupe in France, which you can read about here.

The coupe iteration of the Cayenne looks similar from the front and it is when you look past the B-pillar, you’ll start to see the difference. The Cayenne Coupe has a roofline which is 20mmm lower than the standard SUV. Usually SUV coupe’s look a bit strange but the Cayenne Coupe is somehow oddly satisfying and proportionate.

The base Cayenne Coupe uses a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 good for 340PS and 450Nm, helping it achieve 0-100kmph in 6.0 seconds. The range-topping Cayenne Coupe Turbo uses a 4.0-litre V8 developing 550PS and 770Nm, enough for a 0-100kmph time of 3.9 seconds. Top speed for the Turbo is rated at 286kmph and both the engines come paired up with an 8-speed automatic gearbox which is not a PDK unit.

Porsche India has also listed the Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-Hybrid and the Cayenne E-Hybrid in their website. The Cayenne S E-Hybrid makes more than a Lamborghini Urus at 680PS while the more sedate E-Hybrid develops around 469PS.

The Cayenne Coupe and the standard Cayenne get the same cabin design with major highlights being the large infotainment system and the equally contrasting old-school analogue clock. The Cayenne Coupe also gains Porsche connect app, Bose/Burmester sound system, adaptive air suspension, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), rear axle steering, and Porsche Traction Management (PTM), among others.

Rivalling the Cayenne Coupe are  the BMW X6 and the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe. Expect it to be priced around Rs 1.4 crore to Rs 2 crore (ex-showroom India).
