It will be based on the Cayenne Coupe Turbo, with a variety of performance buffs in store

  • Likely to retain the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, albeit with more punch than before.

  • Other performance improvements will include an enhanced chassis, performance-focused PDCC, and a revamped front axle.

  • Expect a debut within the next couple of weeks.

  • Unlikely to make it to India anytime soon.

As if the Porsche Cayenne Coupe wasn’t enough of a beast, the carmaker will now be further refining and improving the SUV. Porsche has teased a spicier variant of the Porsche Cayenne Coupe testing at the Hockenheimring circuit, with two-time World Rally Champion Walter Röhrl behind the wheel. The SUV will be based on the Cayenne Coupe Turbo, with Porsche hinting at several performance upgrades.

Porsche has yet to reveal what’s under the hood. But considering it is based on the Cayenne Coupe Turbo, it’ll likely retain the beefy 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 in a higher state of tune. For reference, the engine in the Cayenne Coupe Turbo makes 550PS and 770Nm. The current benchmark across the Cayenne Coupe lineup is the bonkers Turbo S E-Hybrid that delivers a combined 680PS of grunt and 900Nm of twist.

The carmaker has also revealed that the upcoming variant will get a new titanium exhaust system with centrally mounted tailpipes.

The powertrain aside, other upgrades teased by the carmaker include enhanced chassis and control systems and a performance-focused Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control active roll stabilisation system. This, combined with a reworked front axle, 12.7mm wider front rims, increased camber, and 22-inch tyres, and the hotter Cayenne Coupe should be able to throw itself around corners pretty easily.

Expect Porsche to reveal the performance-focused Cayenne Coupe in the next couple of weeks. In India, the carmaker retails the Cayenne Coupe at prices starting from Rs 1.31 crore (ex-showroom). We are expecting the Cayenne Coupe E-Hybrid, and the Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-Hybrid in the country considering they’ve been listed on the official website.

That said, the wait for this variant could be longer. The Porsche Cayenne Coupe rivals the Lamborghini Urus, and the Bentley Bentayga
