More details of Nissan’s upcoming sub-4 metre SUV, the Magnite, are coming to light as we inch towards its possible January launch. The Japanese carmaker has now revealed its dimensions and engine specifications.
The Magnite will come with two petrol engines including the Triber’s 72PS 1.0-litre naturally aspirated unit. The highlight, though, is the new 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine which will debut in the Magnite. It develops 100PS of power and 160Nm of torque (152Nm in CVT). These ain’t class-leading numbers, especially when compared to the 1.0-litre turbo engine from Hyundai and Kia.

We expect Nissan to commence pre-launch bookings very soon as all of the Magnite’s details have come to light. Prices could be revealed by January. We expect it to be priced from Rs 5.5 lakh (ex-showroom), making it the most affordable SUV in its segment. The Magnite will rival established models such as the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
