For Mahindra, August 15 isn’t just another date to mark on the calendar. Over the past few years, it’s become something of a ritual, a day when the company rolls out something fresh to show us where it’s headed next.
Sometimes it’s been a near-production SUV, other times a far-out concept, and occasionally, a peek at new technology that won’t see showrooms for years. It’s less about grabbing headlines and more about keeping a conversation going with enthusiasts.
This year, that conversation continues at the Freedom NU event in Mumbai, where Mahindra will pull the covers off four new concepts: Vision.T, Vision.S, Vision.SXT, and Vision.X, and introduce a flexible new platform designed to carry everything from ICE to electric SUVs.
Also in the mix is a one-off BE 6 special edition from Mahindra India Design Studio, which sounds like the kind of design experiment that could steal the show.
Starting with something for the collectors, a special edition BE6 that’s believed to be a one-off creation from Mahindra India Design Studio (MIDS). The details are under wraps for now, but expect it to have exclusive touches inside and out, the kind of treatment that makes it a rolling piece of design art rather than just another SUV.

This one’s a little easier to decode. The “S” probably points straight at Scorpio territory. Expect it to be a new-generation all-electric or hybrid SUV built on the fresh platform Mahindra will be talking about at the event. From what’s visible in the teasers, tall stance, commanding grille, solid proportion, the family resemblance to the current Scorpio N is hard to miss.

The Vision.X feels like the most urban-friendly of the four. It slots somewhere between the T and S concepts, a family SUV with cleaner lines, a connected LED light bar, and a more premium feel. It’s less about rock-crawling and more about doing the daily grind in style, while still having enough SUV DNA to head out of town on weekends.

The teasers give away more than they hide: upright stance, boxy proportions, chunky tyres. The Vision.T clearly has off-road on its mind. It’s likely an evolved version of the Thar E concept first shown in South Africa in 2023, but this time, the details look more production-friendly. In short, an electric Thar that’s getting ready for bigger adventures.

If there’s a wildcard in this line-up, it’s the Vision.SXT. With its exposed hinges, clamshell bonnet, and heavy-duty bumper, it’s got the stance of a lifestyle pickup truck. This could be a spin-off of the Thar or Scorpio, or even the next stage of the Global Pik Up concept Mahindra showed in 2023. Whatever the case, it looks built for people who see “tarmac” as more of a suggestion than a rule.

The other big reveal will be Mahindra’s Next-generation Flexible Architecture a.k.a. NFA, which is designed to take on everything from internal combustion engines to electric and even hybrid powertrains.

It’s meant to accommodate multiple body styles and will be the base for upcoming models like the next-gen Bolero or the rumoured Thar Sport. Mahindra says the platform will also help boost production, with its new Chakan facility in Pune capable of rolling out up to 1.2 lakh vehicles a year.
Mahindra’s turning Independence Day into SUV Future Day, four new concepts, a fresh platform, and even a one-off BE6 special. It’s a clear sign the brand wants to keep its future exciting, with more variety and depth in its lineup than ever before.
From hardcore off-roaders to premium family movers, Mahindra’s making sure there’s something for every kind of SUV buyer in the years ahead.
