All four customisation packs aims to appeal a different set of audience with the upgrades and features

The Defender is a through-bred Land Rover with exceptional off-road pedigree. It looks iconic yet modern and comes with four customisation packs straight from the factory floor: Explorer, Adventure, Country and Urban. All of them look different, come with different upgrades, and appeal to a different set of audience.

If you can’t decide on a pack, this report could be helpful as we explain the differences between all four.

Adventure Pack:

This is my favourite one out of the four as all upgrades cater to off-road enthusiasts. The optional white steel wheels, which can withstand more beating than the alloy rim, give the Defender a rugged look and everyone at the Zig office including me love it. If you encounter a puncture enroute, fret not, the pack gets an integrated air compressor.

It also features a spare wheel cover providing all-season protection for your rear-mounted spare wheel and mud flaps, which serves its purpose of protecting the body work from muck. But don’t worry if your Defender gets dirty as the Adventure pack features a portable spray wash, which is actually used for washing off-road gear. We suspect owners might wash the Defender as well. There is also a gear carrier both on the outside and inside for storing your off-road gloves or any other stuff you wish to hide from your better half.

Last but not least, you can upgrade from three types of side steps and added protection bar for the front bumper.

Urban Pack:

As the name suggests, this pack is for city dwellers. All upgrades here are cosmetic with metal-finished pedals, a brighter rear scuff plate, a spare wheel cover, and a front undershield to withstand erm…. kerbs. You can also upgrade to a different set of wheels or even differently styled side steps.

Owners can also upgrade to larger alloy wheels for a stealthier look. Different types of side steps are also on offer for this pack.

Country Pack:

The pack is mainly suited for farmers. Before you ooh and aah, let us do the explanation. It gets a partition which splits the boot area and the cabin. Useful for those who take their animals, pets or even livestock. It also comes with body cladding around the wheel arches, something that is absent in the above two packs.

A portable washer is also part of the pack to wash off the dirty gear and classic rubber mud flaps. Upgrades include a tougher front bumper and a choice of three different types of side steps.

Explorer Pack:

This pack is for those interested in exploring the road less taken. The main highlight here is the roof rack which is capable of holding up to 132kg. It can be also used to pitch a tent to bunk for the night. A snorkel ensures you can ford through rivers with ease while other protective bits include mud flaps, a spare wheel cover, and a wheel arch protector. A trendy matte black decal on the bonnet prevents reflections while driving under harsh sunlight.

You can also upgrade this pack with features such as a ladder, a enhanced front shield and different types of side steps.

These are the four packs Land Rover is offering with the new Defender. Our pick is the Explorer as it comes with all the equipment for travelling across the world. The Adventure pack comes a close second with its off-road based upgrades. Also, those optional steel wheels on the Adventure Pack are… drool worthy!
