After what has been a lengthy delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Citroen has finally revealed the C5 Aircross SUV in the country. Slated to launch in March in two variants, Feel and Shine, it will spearhead the carmaker’s early innings in India. And there's plenty to talk about the C5 Aircross, from its funky presence and various features and a diesel powertrain.

Starting with how it looks, the C5 Aircross has a chic crossover-like overall silhouette, with some nifty design highlights such as dual-beam LED headlamps with LED DRLs, a split front grille, 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, an upright rear end, and split LED tail lamps.

Heading inside, the funky theme continues with split-AC vents that blend in well with the dashboard. At the centre, you’re treated to an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, with the driver’s side featuring a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster display. It’s also big on practicality, with a 580-litre boot with all the seats up. Reclining the rear seats forward will increase the boot space to 720 litres and folding the three individual rear seats to a whopping 1,630 litres!

The C5 Aircross is also loaded with features such as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, phone mirroring, seats with memory foam, panoramic sunroof, air purifier, engine stop-start function, dual-zone automatic climate control, mood lighting, a foot-operated electric tailgate, and three individually adjustable reclining and modular rear seats. Safety is covered by blind spot monitoring, front, side and curtain airbags, electric parking brake, reverse camera, hill start assist, park assist, as well as grip control system with five modes: Standard, Snow, All Terrain, Sand And Traction Control Off

The premium midsize SUV is powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine that delivers 177PS of grunt and 400Nm of twist. Paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, the SUV features shift and park by wire control to boost efficiency. Another tech highlight, which would be a boon for our Indian roads, is Citroen’s Progressive Hydraulic Cushion suspension system. The carmaker claims the suspension will deliver what they call the ‘flying carpet effect’ to cushion discomforts from road bumps.

Citroen will offer the C5 Aircross SUV in a total of four body shades: Pearl White, Cumulus Grey, Tijuca Blue, and Perla Nera Black. The first three are also available in a dual-tone trim. Expect prices to start from Rs 28 lakh (ex-showroom). It will face tough competition from the upcoming facelifted Volkswagen Tiguan
