After Buell split from its parent company Harley Davidson and renamed itself Erik Buell Racing, the company unveils its first bike since 2009. The 1.2-litre vee twin Buell will produce 175bhp and a massive torque of 131Nm. The American two-wheeler manufacturer revealed that only 100 of these machines will be produced with a few being the limited edition ‘Carbon virsions’.
The 1125R based motorcycle will be priced at $ 39,999 (Rs. 17,91,555) for the normal version while it will cost an extra $ 4,000 for the Carbon virsion. The Buell 1190RS will be available in Abraxas Inferno, Boreas Frost, Burnt Armor or Pitch Black colours. Apart from the 1190RS, Erik Buell Racing also plans to bring in three other models - ‘RX’, ‘SX’, and ‘AX’.
Buell's new 1190RS
After the company separated from Harley Davidson Motorcycles in October 2009, and the formerly known Buell was renamed Erik Buell Racing, the 1190RS is the first motorcycle the US based company has produce. Ex- engineer of Harley Davidson, Erik Buell, founded the company in 1983 and the Milwaukee based company bought 49% stake in HD in 1993. HD later withdrew its investment as it wanted to concentrate only on HD as a brand. After the split Buell was renamed as Erik Buell Racing.
The new models of bikes will be launched under the tag of Erik Buell Racing and HD will not be associated with the racing motorcycle manufacturer in any way.
