Had your eyes set on the new Citroen Basalt? Then this news is for you as the SUV coupe has arrived at dealerships. You can check it out in the flesh and if interested, can place an order for a token amount of Rs 11,000. Test drives of the Citroen Basalt are expected to commence soon and deliveries are slated to begin from September onwards.
For now, Citroen has officially revealed the price of the entry-level variant, which is an attractive Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom). A quick glance at the configurator revealed that the top-spec automatic variant is priced at Rs 13.57 lakh (ex-showroom), which could be true considering the price range is as per our expectations. Detailed variant-wise prices will be out soon. For reference, the Basalt is offered in three broad variants: You, Plus and Max.
The Citroen Basalt comes decently kitted with features such as LED projector headlamps, a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, and remote locking / unlocking. Passenger safety is taken care of by six airbags (as standard), ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and electronic stability control.
While it will satisfy most users, we wish Citroen could have offered a bit more such as keyless entry with push button start, a sunroof and cruise control.
The Citroen Basalt is offered with a choice of two petrol engine options. The first one is a 82 PS 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, teamed with a 5-speed manual. You can also have it with a more powerful 110 PS 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, teamed with either a 6-speed manual or an optional 6-speed torque converter automatic.
To know our impressions about the Citroen Basalt, you can check out our in-depth first drive review. It will soon face competition from the recently unveiled Tata Curvv, which will go on sale on September 2. The Basalt will also lock horns with compact SUVs such as the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, VW Taigun and MG Astor.
