Uk-spec New-gen Maruti Swift Variants Explained

The launch of the new-gen Maruti Swift in India is still some time away, unlike other markets (UK and Germany), which have been lucky enough to get the hatchback sooner. As it stands, testing is underway and while we eagerly anticipate it to make its way here, we take a look at what the UK-spec variants look like in terms of features and powertrain options.

Motion

Powertrain options: 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with 5-speed MT or CVT

Powertrain options: 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with 5-speed MT or CVT | 4x4 drivetrain with 5-speed MT

Here are the features that the Ultra trim packs over the Motion

• Paddle shifters (CVT only)

• Auto AC

• Fully electric ORVMs

• LED number plate lamps

• 16-inch alloys (polished finish)

The fourth-gen Maruti Swift will make its India debut in the coming months. But it won’t be getting these same trims as the UK-spec model and is likely to follow Maruti’s variant guidelines for the Indian market. 

In India, the new-gen Swift is expected to be priced from around the Rs 6 lakh mark (ex-showroom), putting it in contention with the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Renault Triber and Tata Punch.
