Maruti Suzuki Swift crosses thirty lakh sales mark in India
It took the nameplate nearly 2 decades to achieve this feat
First-gen Maruti Swift was launched back in 2005
Last 10 lakh sales came within 6 years
2024 Maruti Swift retails between Rs 6.49 lakh to Rs 9.64 lakh (ex-showroom)
Maruti Suzuki had launched the new-gen Swift in India back in May 2024. Just two months later, the new Swift has helped the nameplate drive across the 30 lakh sales mark in India. 30 lakh units of the same nameplate is a tremendous milestone. To put it in context, some carmakers’ combined portfolio sales can’t replicate that number achieved by a single nameplate. Here’s a look at the Swift’s sales timeline:

Launched in May 2005, the first gen Swift was a game changer in many senses, as it revolutionised India’s hatchback segment. It set the base for the future models to come, and the popularity of the nameplate just grew as the time and generations went by.

Mind you, this 30 lakh sales milestone is specific to India, and accounts for nearly half of the global sales achieved by the Swift. Total worlwide sales for the Swift stand at 65 lakhs.
The new Swift carries forward the baton with its new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine which develops 82 PS and 112 Nm. It gets the option of a 5-speed MT or an AMT.

In terms of features, the Swift has plenty of equipment like a 9-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless phone charger, 6 speakers, rear AC vents, cruise control and auto AC on offer. Safety is taken care of with six airbags (standard), ABS with EBD, ESP with hill start assist and a rear parking camera with sensors.

These features can be found in the 5 broad trims that Maruti offers: LXi, VXi, VXI (O), ZXi, and ZXi+ and you have 6 monotone and 3 dual-tone colour options to choose from.

Prices for the 2024 Maruti Swift juggle between Rs 6.49 lakh and Rs 9.64 lakh (ex-showroom). It rivals the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and is a hatchback alternative to the Tata Punch and Renault Triber.
