Up until now, the Meridian was considered Jeep's high-end three-row SUV, positioned in the sub-Rs 40 lakh category. However, with the MY 2024 update, its starting price has been reduced to Rs 24.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
This price drop is mainly due to the introduction of a new Longitude variant, which is an entry-level variant of the updated Meridian range. In this report, we will focus on what this new base variant offers and whether it makes the Meridian stand out against its rivals.
Design-wise, you won't feel any corners cut with the Longitude variant. It still features the familiar 7-slat grille, with ample use of chrome all around. However, it does miss out on LED fog lamps, which are equipped from the Longitude Plus variant onwards.

The Longitude variant is equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels and boasts silver-finished roof rails that enhance the sportiness of the SUV. You also get body-coloured ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, while the squared-off wheel arches complement the Meridian's rugged character.

At the rear, the slim LED tail lamps give it a mini-Grand Cherokee look. Additionally, the Longitude variant gets a rear wiper with a defogger for enhanced safety. However, it misses out on a dual-pane sunroof and dual-tone paint shade options, for which you will have to choose the Longitude Plus variant.
The Longitude variant is offered with 5-seat configuration, and the absence of a third row provides it with plenty of boot space. For increased practicality, the second-row seats are foldable with a 60-40 split function and also feature recline functionality.

The cabin is finished in a new black and light grey colour scheme, which enhances the overall roominess inside. There is plenty of silver throughout the cabin, which, along with the silver-finished gear lever, elevates the premiumness of the interior.

Jeep offers the 2024 Meridian Longitude with features such as a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch semi-digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate automatic control, type-C charging port and a 6-speaker sound system.

Safety features include, 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill start assist, rain sensing wipers, electronic parking brake and a reverse parking camera with sensors.
The 2024 Jeep Meridian is powered by the same 2-litre diesel engine that puts out 170 PS and 350 Nm. The Longitude variant is offered only with a 6-speed manual transmission and does not include the option to configure it with a four-wheel drivetrain, which is available with the 9-speed automatic gearbox.

Jeep has priced the Meridian Longitude at Rs 24.99 lakh (ex-showroom), while the higher-level trims are priced up to Rs 36.49 lakh (ex-showroom). However, Jeep has yet to announce the full price list for the 2024 Meridian. It takes on the likes of the Skoda Kodiaq, MG Gloster and the Toyota Fortuner.
