New Duster will be based on the CMF-B platform co-developed by Renault and Nissan.
Could be a larger SUV with design cues inspired by the Dacia Bigster concept.
Should get ICE petrol and hybrid powertrains overseas; diesel engine option unlikely.
New Duster will break cover in Europe in 2024, India launch likely in 2025.
The Renault Duster’s hiatus started last year in 2022 when the carmaker finally discontinued the first-generation model in India. The SUV will make a comeback in its third-generation avatar sometime in 2025, but until then, a couple of renderings based on spy sightings and the Bigster concept SUV, show realistic, life-like images of the upcoming SUV.

At the front, the rendered Renault Duster looks chunky with a mix of curves and straight edges. It’s built on the new Renault-Nissan CMF-B platform and will be a larger SUV with chunkier proportions. Its front end features narrow headlights with two-element LED DRLs – a feature seen on the SUV’s test mules.
The rendered SUV goes for extra design flair with shiny trim pieces within the grille and a large plastic bullbar-esque element that surrounds the lower grille. Speaking of the lower grille, its mesh pattern is the same as we’ve seen on models in spy sightings.

Over in the profile, the rendered third-generation Duster has a familiar window design, with a C-pillar window that’s larger. The angular wheel arch design and thick cladding give the SUV a butch stance, as do the multi-spoke, machined alloy wheels.

The rear-end styling is similar to the Bigster SUV concept (pictured below), with its triangular taillights and straight-edged tailgate. The rear bumper features a faux skid plate, too.
Overall, the rendered Duster SUV looks promising and shows that some of the OG first-generation Duster’s design cues (overall stance and window line) could still be retained in the third-generation SUV.

Second-gen Duster interior for representation only
The lack of features was an Achilles’ heel of the previous Duster, and the new one should remedy this with segment-par equipment such as a sunroof, six airbags, a large infotainment screen and driver-assistance systems (ADAS).

The new Duster should get ICE petrol powertrains in India; a diesel engine is unlikely to be offered with BS6 phase II norms in place. With the CMF-B platform capable of supporting electrification, the next-gen Duster is quite likely to be offered with hybrid drivetrains in European countries.

The new Duster is expected to arrive in India sometime in 2025, picking up where it left off with rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun. New SUVs such as the Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder have also joined the segment and other models are expected to arrive by the time the Renault Duster breaks cover in the country. A Duster-derived compact SUV from Nissan is also expected.
