Volvo has launched the 2025 XC90 facelift on our shores with prices starting at Rs 1.03 crore (ex-showroom), Rs 2 lakh more than the pre-facelift model. The flagship full-size SUV has been updated and upgraded inside out with minor tweaks to the design and a more well-equipped interior. The changes make it a more fierce competitor to its German rivals.
Here’s a closer look at all the details of the 2025 XC90 facelift in terms of its design, interior, features, powertrain, pricing and rivals.
The XC90 facelift carries forward the elegance of the pre-facelift model with subtle yet impactful changes here and there. The grille up front has been tweaked with a modern look and the familiar Thor’s Hammer LED DRLs get a sleeker and sharper appearance. The bumper has been redesigned and looks cleaner now.
In profile, the silhouette and overall appearance remains the same. However, you get new 20-inch alloy wheels that set it apart from its pre-facelift avatar. The rear looks more or less similar to the earlier model, with minor revisions to the iconic vertical taillights. It gets a shark fin antenna and a small roof-mounted spoiler for a sportier touch to the rear.
It can be opted for in six colour options: Onyx Black, Crystal White, Denim Blue, Mulberry Red, Vapour Grey and Bright Dusk
Overall, you get the sense of sophistication and elegance from the design of the XC90.
The cabin features a rather evolutionary update with a familiar design, but now gets enhanced tech and premium materials used all over the cabin. The infotainment unit, now a larger 11.2-inch unit, is flanked by vertical AC vents. The good thing is that you also get physical buttons to control important infotainment functions. Additionally, the practicality bit has also been improved with more well thought out storage spaces for your convenience. It comes in a 7-seater layout.
It boasts plenty of amenities and creature comforts that will leave you more than satisfied. It comes with an upgraded 11.2-inch infotainment system that runs on Google-based software. Furthermore, you get a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, a panoramic sunroof, a heads-up display, ventilated and powered front seats, multiple zones of climate control, a 19-speaker Bowers and Wilkins sound system, and wireless phone charging.
In terms of safety, it gets multiple airbags, Level-2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), front and rear parking sensors, park assist system, a 360-degree camera setup, hill start and hill descent control, and an electronic parking brake with auto hold.
Under the hood, it comes with a 250 PS mild-hybrid powertrain which features a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, and power is delivered to all four wheels.
The XC90 facelift is priced at Rs 1.03 crore (ex-showroom). It competes with the likes of the Audi Q7, Mercedes-Benz GLE, and the BMW X5.
Known for its safety, luxe feel with top-notch interior and premium features and a solid design, Volvo seems to have improved the recipe of the XC90 even more with the necessary updates.
