Indonesian Citroen C3 Aircross Gets ONE Important Thing Over Its Indian Sibling

• Made-in-India Citroen C3 Aircross revealed in Indonesia. 
• It gets a 6-speed torque converter, paired to its 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine. 
• The auto ‘box will be introduced in India later. 
• In Indonesia, Citroen offers the C3 Aircross as a 7-seater only.

The made-in-India Citroen C3 Aircross compact SUV has now made its first-ever international appearance. The model has been revealed in Indonesia at the 2023 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show. And it gets one thing that isn’t offered in India at the moment: an automatic transmission. 

The C3 Aircross for the Indonesian market gets a sole 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. It is mated to the same 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that develops 110PS, but torque is 15Nm more at 205Nm. The fuel efficiency of this particular powertrain is rated at 17.5kmpl, which is down from the manual’s 18.5kmpl.

In India, the C3 Aircross will be offered with a 6-speed manual ‘box at launch. Fret not, though, as Citroen has confirmed that it will be offered with an automatic transmission at a later stage, and it should be the same unit. 

The Indonesian C3 Aircross is offered only as a 7-seater, as opposed to the India-spec model, where you also get a 5-seater version. Apart from that, it remains more or less similar to the India-spec model with the same basic features list and its really likeable design. Citroen is expected to announce the prices of the C3 Aircross soon – to capitalise on the upcoming festive season– which we expect to start around Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, the C3 Aircross will go up against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara as well as three-row offerings such as the Maruti Ertiga, Kia Carens and upcoming Toyota Rumion.
