Hero MotoCorp has launched the Destini Prime at Rs 71,499 (ex-showroom Delhi). With this price tag, this 125cc scooter is now the most affordable Destini variant, and as such, connectivity features are given a miss. Here’s the variant-wise price breakup:

It gets a simpler halogen headlight (as opposed to the LED unit in the Xtec variant) than the Destini Xtec with the chrome elements around the headlight now gone. The back rest on the Xtec is now replaced by a regular grab rail in the Destini Prime. Other than these, the rest of the design on the Prime is similar to that of the Destini Xtec. Features-wise, the scooter gets an analogue speedometer with a digital inset and a USB charging port in the underseat storage area. It is available in three colour options: Pearl Silver White, Nexus Blue and Nobel Red.
Powering the Destini Prime is a 124.6cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine producing 9PS and 10.36Nm and gets claimed mileage of 56kmpl. It gets drum brakes at both ends and suspension duties are taken care of by a front telescopic fork and rear monoshock setup. Hero earlier discontinued the standard variant of the Destini, but now with the Prime variant, Hero seems to have gone back to the basics, with just an additional tag to seemingly make it feel fresh.
The new Hero Destini Prime will rival the likes of the Honda Activa 125, Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid, Suzuki Access 125 and TVS Jupiter 125.
